    “Branding” was essential for ranchers of the old west, but today, is it anything more than just a marketing buzz word? The simple goal of branding is that customers will think of you first when they think of your product. Think of any product category and then think of the brand that pops into your mind first. Hamburgers, wrist-watches, facial tissues, all have someone in your mind as “the brand” This is the goal. This is also the one component of your business that no one can steal.
    An effective brand is built through experience and interaction, not exposure. Here are some areas where you can have an effect on a brand: quality, presence in the media, product benefits, your reputation, your image, your customer commitment, and pricing.
    The end result of our branding in these areas are: 1.) buyer awareness – simply that you have now been established in the customer’s mind, and 2.) preference – the customer’s predisposition to buy from you because of your established brand loyalty.
